Part 1: The Master Story (Die Traum-Party)
Context: Lukas writes an email to his family describing a fancy party he attended. This text contains the grammar from Phase 4.

Subject: What a night!
„Hallo Familie,“
Hello Family,
„ihr glaubt nicht, was ich gestern erlebt habe.“
You won't believe what I experienced yesterday.
„Mein Chef hat eine Party gegeben.“
My boss threw a party.
„Es war ein unglaublicher Abend!“
It was an incredible evening! (Mixed Adjective)
„Wenn ich reich wäre, würde ich auch so feiern.“
If I were rich, I would also celebrate like that. (Konjunktiv II)
„Es gab guten Wein und frisches Essen.“
There was good wine and fresh food. (Strong Adjective/No Article)
„Ich habe mir den Bauch vollgeschlagen.“
I stuffed my belly.
„Ein Gast erzählte mir, er sei ein berühmter Schauspieler.“
A guest told me he be (is) a famous actor. (Indirect Speech)
„Er sagte, er habe schon in Hollywood gedreht.“
He said he has already filmed in Hollywood.
„Ich habe nur Bahnhof verstanden, weil er so schnell sprach.“
I understood only train station, because he spoke so fast. (Idiom)
„Aber je mehr Wein ich trank, desto besser habe ich ihn verstanden.“
But the more wine I drank, the better I understood him. (Je... Desto...)
„Lisa war auch da. Sie hat sich ein neues Kleid gekauft.“
Lisa was also there. She bought (for herself) a new dress. (Reflexive Dative)
„Sie sah toll aus. Sie hat sich extra die Haare machen lassen.“
She looked great. She had the hair done specially. (Lassen)
„Wir haben sowohl getanzt als auch viel gelacht.“
We both danced and laughed a lot. (Double Connector)
„Das war ja eine Überraschung, dass mein Chef so locker sein kann.“
That was (surprise) a surprise, that my boss can be so relaxed. (Particle)
„Ich hätte nie gedacht, dass er feiern kann.“
I would have never thought that he can celebrate.
„Morgen habe ich frei. Das ist halt das Gute am Wochenende.“

Part 2: The "Big 5" Grammar Checklist (Phase 4)
If you are comfortable with these 5 concepts, you are ready for the Advanced Level.
1. Adjective Endings (The 3 Scenarios)
Weak (Der-words): Mostly „-e“ or „-en“. („Der gute Mann“).
Mixed (Ein-words): Adjective does the work if Article is naked. („Ein guter Mann“).
Strong (No Article): Adjective steals the Article ending. („Guter Wein“).
2. Konjunktiv II (Wishes & Politeness)
„Wäre“ / „Hätte“ (Would be / Would have).
„Würde“ + Infinitive (Would do).
Structure: „Wenn ich Geld hätte, würde ich reisen.“
3. Lassen (The Swiss Army Knife)
Means: To let, to leave, to stop.
Causative: To have something done. („Ich lasse das Auto reparieren“).
4. Reflexive Dative (Mir vs. Mich)
If the action targets the whole body: „Mich“. („Ich wasche mich“).
If the action targets a body part or object: „Mir“. („Ich wasche mir die Hände“).
5. Particles & Idioms (The Soul)
„Ja“/„Doch“/„Mal“/„Halt“ add flavor.
„Schwein haben“ - Lucky.
„Bahnhof verstehen“ - Confused.
Part 3: Vocabulary Hall of Fame (Phase 4)

Part 4: The Phase 4 Challenge
Task: "Was würdest du tun?" (What would you do?) Answer the following question using Konjunktiv II and at least one Adjective Ending.
Question: „Was würdest du tun, wenn du einen Tag lang unsichtbar wärst?“ (What would you do if you were invisible for a day?)
Example: „Wenn ich unsichtbar wäre, würde ich in ein teures Flugzeug steigen und nach New York fliegen. Ich würde mir einen lustigen Film im Kino ansehen, ohne zu bezahlen. Das wäre ja verrückt!“
